MEET DR. LAURA TASHJIAN

Founder + CEO

Dr. Laura Tashjian, PT, DPT, CSCS, is a highly experienced Functional Movement Specialist and Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist. Dr. Tashjian earned a Bachelor of Science in Kinesiology, Exercise Science, from The University of Rhode Island in 2011 and a Doctorate of Physical Therapy from Northeastern University in 2015. With 31 years of personal and competitive figure skating experience and 18 years of coaching figure skating and hockey power skating across all ages, levels, and disciplines, Dr. Tashjian brings a deep understanding of the physical demands, preventable injuries, and strength/recovery techniques for on-ice athletes.

A former competitive ice dancer, she is a two-time USFS and CAN Figure Skating Gold Medalist, an International Figure Skating Coach & Choreographer (World Bronze Medalists, two-time National and International Champions), and currently works with High Performance figure skating athletes.

Dr. Tashjian continues to coach/choreograph all disciplines of figure skating as well as coach hockey power skating, all while leveraging her extensive expertise to create MOOV. Through MOOV’s comprehensive head-to-toe functional movement assessments and customized training programs, MOOV delivers a systematic, personalized, and evidence-based approach designed to help all skaters and active individuals MAXIMIZE longevity, PREVENT injuries, and PERFORM at their best -  both on and off the ice!

WHAT TO EXPECT

MOOVment Assessment and Re-Assessments:

This is a visual head-to-toe assessment to evaluate your body’s general movement patterns, sport-specific movement patterns, strength and motor control impairments as well as mobility impairments. This includes walking/running gait assessments as well as assessing your movement on the surface in which your sport requires (ie- ice rink, turf, etc).

Re-Assessments are recommended at least every quarter/season to ensure proper recovery techniques as well as strength and conditioning progressions

Customized Corrective Programs:

After visually assessing your movement patterns, you will receive customized training programs which are systematically designed and backed by science, tailored to your individual needs. Achieve your goals through MOOV’s comprehensive assessment/programs.
